  1. Create a class set of the lyrics of “Buddy Can you Spare a Dime”

  2. Have students read the lyrics and have a classroom discussion of the lyrics.

  3. Find a version of the song "Buddy Can you Spare a Dime" sung by Bing Crosby. Classroom discussion about how this song makes people feel and why it became the anthem of the great depression.

  4. Classroom discussion about the two versions of the song and why the Bing Crosby version is remembered while the Rudy Vallee version is not.
